Hello Everyone,
This past week, I've started testing bread recipes for classes in 2026. And, while my husband and I love to eat bread, and some of our kids would prefer that we only eat bread, we have been delivering the extra loaves to neighbors. Walking around the block, rehoming sourdough became an unexpected joy this past week.
Even our trick or treating marathon Friday night reminded me again of how food can foster connection. I get a little flustered sometimes in the run up to a holiday (so much to do!), but the small ritual of candy giving on the porch, and the polite face-to-face conversation is so important, not just for kids, but for everyone. We know it takes a village to raise a family and build a life. I continuously re-learn that our village thrives when I put in the effort as a villager. It doesn't always mean food, but sharing resources, keeping an eye on things, or even just spending time together builds a stronger community. So, check on your neighbors, and if it feels awkward, the upcoming holidays provide the perfect cover for reaching out.
