What do you love about making pasta?

Pasta has always been my "celebration" meal and now it is also my meditation practice. When I am feeling anxious about something or am stalled on a project, I can simply choose to make my lunch from scratch that day. I work out my worries in the kneading of the dough, unblocking my creativity by shaping the pasta. And then, at the end of all that, I get to eat something both satisfying and comforting that I made with my own two hands.

Why do you enjoy teaching how to make pasta?

My favorite thing about teaching someone how to make pasta is the moment when they realize that they can actually do it. So often when people come to class, they step into the room still not quite convinced that they will leave being able to successfully create what they came to learn. When they see that they are actually making pasta, pasta that they can eat and feed to their families, it is such a joy to witness.

What are your favorite places to eat in Sonoma County?

My favorite places are casual spots that show their love for the food they are making in every dish they serve. For me right now these are: the Beef Quesadilla (with freshly made-in-the-moment corn tortillas!) at Tacos Don Pepe, the Falafel Wrap at King Falafel, the Chilaquiles at Americana, the Veggie Hash at Jeffrey's Hillside, the Puff Pastry with Blueberries and Pastry Cream at Stellina Pronto, and the Lemon Iced Tea at Sarmentine.
